"Speaking truth to power"?

A few weeks back I wrote about my cowardly and disingenuous Congressman Jay Inslee and his lie of omission that illegal aliens would not be covered under the current health 'insurance' reform being considered in congress.

While I certainly can sympathize with the President and having his Congressional Address momentarily interrupted by a heckler... when one is going to go out of their way to call someone a liar while not being honest themselves... even then civility has it's limits, even when it is later apologized for.

One wonders if the likes of Pelosi and others will apologize for their likening some town hall goers to Nazis, racists, Astroturf, evil-mongers, gun-toting, angry mobsters.

Ok... maybe that last one is true:

  • your link under 'Nazi's' points to an article entitled "Media Ignore Pelosi Nazi Comparison", where it says 'Then she referred to hecklers at a town hall meeting: "They're carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on healthcare."'. The link I provided showed examples of hecklers at a town hall meeting carrying swastikas.

  • I never denied the fact that there was a small number of people doing so... apparently starting with a group of Lyndon Larouche supporters who are angry that Obama isn't governing from as far to the left as they had hoped.

In any sufficiently large group of people you will often find nuts and other crazies, and do as Pelosi and others are doing and trying to paint the entire, largely well behaved and civil group with the brush that might be fair only for a handful... is wrong.

  • The irony of Congressman Joe Wilson shouting "you lie" is that it only further perpetuates the lies that President Obama was referring to.

  • ok, if you think that Republican leaders should strongly rebuke people saying that 'Obama is Hitler', then I think we agree enough. We probably won't agree on whether some elected Republicans are rebuking or encouraging the people saying that 'Obama is Hitler'. Thanks for your comments.
